`~*~`

In eighth grade, my single mother went back to college to become a computer programmer. To save money, we moved back to my grandparents’ farm to live in the old, white farm house where my great grandpa and great grandma had lived. And died. My grandma grew up in the house, so when I say old, I mean old!

The basement was the creepiest part of the house. When my great grandma was alive, I actually liked going to the basement. It smelled like apples, because she had an apple peeler/corer/slicer set up down there and would bring apples from the trees and get them ready for making applesauce or pie or whatever.

But now, living there, the basement gave me the creeps. It was cold and dark and you had to walk down these old set of creaky stairs to get to the bottom of the basement. Seriously, at age 13, it was like walking into a horror film going down those stairs.

One day I was home alone and had to go down there for something. I don’t remember what. But trust me, if I had to go down there, it must have been important. I scurried around, looking for whatever it was, when I felt a presence. I just felt like someone was there. It truly was a moment when all the hairs on the back of my neck stood straight up. And then, in the corner, something shifted, like a shadow or something. Now, a different person might have wanted to stick around and figure out what caused the shadow. See if someone or something might appear. Maybe be excited about the possibility of communicating with the dead in some way. Um, yeah. Not me. No way. I flew up the stairs, slammed the door, and am pretty sure I never ventured down into the basement again.

    Hi Lisa :)
Thanks for sharing that spooky story.
I survived a car accident where the car was totaled, the seats twisted, the seat belt snapped off me, and all I received was a sore neck.
My sister was driving and she, also, got just a sore neck.
After spinning around a couple times & landing in the ditch, we both said simultaneously, “Thank you Grampa”. I don’t know why we did, but I think it was because we were saved by his spirit.
    :)
    All the best,
    RKCharron
    xoxo
